Arts Vs Science

In a conversation with a friend who is also a good musician, she mentioned that she went to school for classical music. Out of curiosity I asked how that would influence her work since here music is far from classical. She said in response, to break the laws of classical music, in a beautiful way, it helps to know the laws well. She went on to discuss with me some of the roots of Jazz and Blues. Since then I have noticed this influence in many forms of art. Murals, abstract paintings, photograpgs, novels what appeals to the mind is what one does not expect. Its the same things we know, not same at all.

Science, on the other hand takes us places which are seemingly lawless and unstructured and asks of us to identify the underlying, governing nature principles and structures. Once we know the principles and structures of nature, we can use it to make something out of it. For example, we discovered the principle of bouncy, which states that when a substance which displaces more water in weight than it weighs itself, it floats. The fact that we gained knowledge of that principle, enabled us to create huge ships that float through the greatest of ocean storms, even though they are made out of steel, a material that sinks faster than rocks.
